George Street Primary School – Hamilton, was established in 1957. It is one of four state and three independent primary schools serving the city and district needs. While students are drawn from an urban and rural environment the school caters predominantly for the eastern side of the city and has a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.
The school is well known for its large, well planned and well maintained grounds and its isolation from urban thoroughfares assists in providing for the safety of the students. School buildings consist of classrooms, library, art/craft room, sports stadium, computer lab and an additional portable used by the Primary Welfare Officer and as a Gr 6 common room.
